Monday 18th May 2020

Hi year 6  Mrs Tyler here again!   Hope you have had a super weekend.    Here are your learning tasks  for  today.  Remember to go onto TT Rock Stars and Corbett Maths to develop your arithmetic skills. https://corbettmathsprimary.com/5-a-day/

A big thank you to all of you who have gone onto TT Rockstars over the weekend. I really do appreciate it and I am very proud of you.  Well done to  IA, AW, LW, CP, AW, DA, BC and TH. Keep going!   Your Secondary school teachers are really impressed with you as am I.

We only have one week until half term.  So keep on going!

Please make sure that you take a photo of any work that you have done and email it the school office and they will email it to me.  I cannot wait to hear from you.  I am missing you so much.  Mrs Tyler

PE

Choose a session from the PE folder and carry out a physical activity. If the weather is nice try and get some fresh air and do some physical exercise outside whilst it is still sunny.  Why not go for a walk?  Go for a bike ride?   Enjoy that sunshine and get active.

Spelling Monday 18th May  2020

I can put my year 5 and year 6  tricky words into a sentence.

Value: perseverance

Have a go at using the  Look, Cover, Write and Check method  to learn how to spell the words which are underneath.  Write down the words that you have learnt in a sentence. Remember that you need to be able to spell these words by the end of year 6.

For example:

The stone, which had unusual engravings on it, looked very ancient.

aggressive,  amateur,  ancient,  apparent,  appreciate

Grammar revision

Monday 18th  May 2020

I would like you to click on the link in the grammar folder.  Today's learning is all about using the correct punctuation and being able to use hyphens and dashes.   Click on the first  video clip which talks about the importance of using accurate punctuation in your writing.  Then watch the second video clip which talks about the difference between dashes and hyphens.     Then complete activity 1 - the drag and drop activity to test your knowledge on dashes and hyphens.

Reading

Monday 18th  May 2020

I can answer retrieval questions based on a text

Today, I would like you to continue to develop your reading skills.  Read through the text 'The Old  Woman's Luck' and then have a go at answering the comprehension questions.  Check what you have done with the answers.

Today, I would like you to continue to learn all about finding the area of shapes.  This time though, it is finding the area of parallelograms. First of all, read the learning reminder which is all about the area of parallelograms.  Then complete the questions and check with the answer sheet.    Remember to use the correct unit.  eg cm²  If this the first time that you have come across area watch the video clip first.

Science

So far in Science, we have been learning about the heart and the lungs which are part of the circulatory system.  I would like you to first of all read the information sheet then answer the questions.  You can then check your answers using the answer sheet.

Have a good day. Stay Safe.   Missing you lots. Mrs Tyler
