Aims and Values
The children, parents, staff and governors have worked together to come up with the aim for the school and the values we want to focus on.
Our aim is for high expectations and great teaching and learning within an inclusive and nurturing environment.
We always try our best in everything we do - we want to aim high!
We want our children to develop a life-long love for learning, and we encourage them to do this by ensuring each lesson is as interesting, exciting and inspiring as possible. We believe that all curriculum areas are just as important as each other as each one brings new skills and possibilities! We pride ourselves on introducing our children to a range of literature, both classic and contemporary, fiction and non-fiction. Therefore we encourage our teachers and children to 'Explore the World Though Words'.
This is our values tree, which shows the values we promote and teach in our curriculum.
These values include:
- Responsibility
- Curiosity
- Honesty
- Self-belief
- Optimism
- Teamwork
- Courage
- Acceptance
- Compassion
- Perseverance
- Respect
We chose these values with the children as we believe these are traits which are really important in helping us become positive, well-rounded individuals who can support each other and work hard to support our community.
We promote a school focus value every week and each lesson the class teacher chooses a value to focus on in the lesson. It is really important that we recognise the efforts children make to demonstrate and develop their understanding of these values.
