Thursday 14th May 2020

Hi year 6  Mrs Tyler here again!   Hope you had a super day yesterday.    Here are your learning tasks  for  today.  Remember to go onto TT Rock Stars and Corbett Maths to develop your arithmetic skills. https://corbettmathsprimary.com/5-a-day/

A big thank you to all of you who have gone onto TT Rockstars over the weekend. I really do appreciate it and I am very proud of you.  Well done to  IA, AW, LW, CP, AW, DA, BC and TH. Keep going!   Your Secondary school teachers are really impressed with you as am I.

Please make sure that you take a photo of any work that you have done and email it the school office and they will email it to me.  I cannot wait to hear from you.  I am missing you so much.  Mrs Tyler

PE

Choose a session from the PE folder and carry out a physical activity. If the weather is nice try and get some fresh air and do some physical exercise outside whilst it is still sunny.  Why not go for a walk?  Go for a bike ride?   Enjoy that sunshine and get active.

Spelling Thursday 14th May  2020

I can put my year 5 and year 6  tricky words into a sentence.

Value: perseverance

Have a go at using the  Look, Cover, Write and Check method  to learn how to spell the words which are underneath.  Write down the words that you have learnt in a sentence. Remember that you need to be able to spell these words by the end of year 6.

For example:

The girl was very thorough when she checked her work.

thorough   twelfth   variety   vegetable   vehicle

I would like you to click on the link in the grammar folder.  Today's learning is all about adjectives.   Click on the video clip on  BBC bitesize on adjectives and watch the clip.  Then click and watch the next video clip on antonyms and synonyms.   Then complete activity sheet 1.

Thursday 14th  May 2020

I can answer inference questions based on a piece of fiction text

Today, I would like you to continue to develop your reading skills.  Read through the text 'Genevieves Discovery' and then have a go at answering the comprehension questions.  Check what you have done with the answers.

Maths

XIV.V.MMXX

I can work out the area of triangles.

Value: Self-belief

Today, I would like you to continue to learn all about finding the area of shapes.  This time though, it is finding the area of triangles. First of all, watch the  two you tube clips that tell you  how to work out the area of  a triangle.  (base x height) then divide the answer by 2 and to find the area of other shapes.  Then open up the link and click on the activities.  Choose which one you want to have a go at.  Developing, expected or if you want a challenge greater depth.  Then check your answers with the answer sheet. Remember to use the correct unit.  eg cm²

Topic

Complete one of the challenges off the Grove website page posted by one of our lovely members of staff.

Stay Safe.   Missing you lots. Mrs Tyler
