School Meals

If your child is attending school full-time they will be staying for lunch-time. Please ensure you make arrangements for their lunches.

Children in years Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to received Free School Meals under the new government scheme.  Children in Keystage 2 may still have a meal provided by the kitchen.   The price of school meals for these children is now £2.53 per day or £12.65 per week.  School meals should be paid for in advance.  If you are in receipt of benefits you may be entitled to claim free meals for your child.  If you require any further information please contact the office.

Paid school meals

Please pay for dinners at the school office or in a named envelope to the class teacher or by using the Weduc app.

Healthy eating

We all want to help our children stay healthy and happy as they grow up. Here at The Grove Primary School we want to help children lead a healthy lifestyle by offering healthy food choices at lunchtime. You can find out much more about healthy eating at the Children’s Food Trust website.

If your child requires a medical diet due to a food allergy, food intolerance or a medical condition that requires an adapted menu (e.g. carbohydrate count for Type 1 Diabetes), please follow this link to request a medical diet: https://orders.lunchhound.co.uk/medicaldiets/request For further support, please refer to the Parent User Guide below.

Free School Meals (FSM)

If you are in receipt of Income Support or Jobseeker’s Allowance you may be entitled to apply for Free School Meals (FSM) for your child.  Please go directly to Leicestershire County Council and complete the Free School Meals application form. This process needs to be completed before your child is due to start attending school.

Please note that we are unable to provide your child with a free school meal until we have received written confirmation from the Local Authority.

Packed lunches

School meals are moving towards a healthy menu with lots of fresh vegetables and interesting meals. We would like to see all the children eating healthily. Therefore, our request to parents providing packed lunches is to avoid crisps and chocolates.
