PE & Sport Premium / Swimming

We believe that PE is vital to a child’s physical development and well-being. All pupils at The Grove Primary School will receive a broad and balanced physical education curriculum in the following areas:

 

    KS1

  • Fundamental Movement

  • Dance

  • Team Games

  • Gymnastics

 

    KS2

  • Dance
  • Games (Football, Hockey, Tag Rugby)
  • Gymnastics
  • Swimming (Y3)
  • Athletics
  • Outdoor Adventurous Activities
     

Pupils are taught to appreciate the importance of a healthy and fit body, as part of the curriculum in PE as well as in Health Education. The Grove Primary School maintains its Healthy Schools status.

 

PE & Sport Premium
Primary schools in England have been awarded a PE and Sports grant to improve the quality of PE provision. This grant is intended to inspire a generation to enjoy and participate in more sport, building a sporting legacy in each child that will keep them healthy, active and enjoying sport as they get older.

2018/2019 Year 6 swimming results (based  on the most recent Year 6 testing)

23 out of 31-  Can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.

13 out of 31- Can use a range of strokes effectively.

 

4 out of 31 - Can perform a safe rescue in different water-based situations.
