The price of school meals for these children is now £2.58 per day or £12.90 per week. School meals should be paid for in advance. If you are in receipt of benefits you may be entitled to claim free meals for your child. If you require any further information please contact the office.
Paid school meals
Please pay for dinners at the school office or in a named envelope to the school office or by using the MCAS (My Child At School) app.
Healthy eating
We all want to help our children stay healthy and happy as they grow up. Here at The Grove Primary School we want to help children lead a healthy lifestyle by offering healthy food choices at lunchtime. You can find out much more about healthy eating at the Children’s Food Trust website.
Free School Meals (FSM)
If you are in receipt of Income Support or Jobseeker’s Allowance you may be entitled to apply for Free School Meals (FSM) for your child. Please go directly to Leicestershire County Council and complete the Free School Meals application form. This process needs to be completed before your child is due to start attending school.
Please note that we are unable to provide your child with a free school meal until we have received written confirmation from the Local Authority.
Please see below for the Free School Meals Application Form.
Packed lunches
School meals are moving towards a healthy menu with lots of fresh vegetables and interesting meals. We would like to see all the children eating healthily. Therefore, our request to parents providing packed lunches is to avoid crisps and chocolates.
Please see below Autumn/Winter dinner menu.
School Milk
Each pupil that registers with Cool Milk will receive a carton of semi-skimmed milk everyday, which is delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom. Their school milk will not only provide them with essential nutrients, but as it is rehydrating and energy boosting it also bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch to help children stay focused.
How to register
Milk is completely free for all children aged under five and is subsidised for children aged five and over. If you are in receipt of free school meals please contact the school office. A copy of the application form is at the bottom of this page.
My child is under five
Just register by a Tuesday for your child’s free milk to start the following week.
Free milk will continue until the Friday before your child’s fifth birthday. You will receive a payment request three weeks before this time. If you wish your child to continue to receive school milk simply make a payment.
My child is over five
Complete a registration form or register online as soon as possible. Shortly after registering you will receive a payment request.
