Ministry of Music

Celebrating 35 Years in the Music Ministry

We have been blessed with many talented musicians over the years that have come and gone, but the things that they have taught us will never be forgotten. These blessed men of God have set our souls on Hallelujah fire.

The Voices of Melton Grove

Celebrating 11 Years in the Music Ministry

The Melton Grove Youth Choir was organized shortly after the installation of our current pastor Alvin J. Boone, Sr. in 1994. The Youth Choir provided music for the very first time as a choir on the 2nd Sunday in July, 1994. The Voices have been blessed to fall under the leadership of Deaconess Doris Rainey and Sister Mary Jordan. The choirs with over 35 enthusiastic, faithful voices sing on a regular basis while glorifying Christ through praises and songs on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Due to the diversity of age and our youth maturing into young adults, it was decided that we change our name to the Voices of Melton Grove. The Lord has truly blessed the voices to prosper and grow. As members come and go there is one thing for certain that we know, with God on our side, things will work out fine, and we’re going to make it.

The Melton Grove Gospel Choir

Celebrating 12 Years in the Music Ministry

The Melton Grove Gospel Choir started out many years ago as a Senior Choir back in the mid 1800’s. it remained the Senior Choir all through the year in which the late Rev. J. W. Law was our pastor. While under his leadership, a group known as the “Supreme Spiritual Singers” came into reality on March 22, 1970’s in that Sister Ida Copeland saw a need for another group to work with and assist the present Senior Choir, which consisted of 11 choir members. While the Supreme Spiritual Singers continued to serve the church, they were invited to visit many churches during the five years under this present name.

On May 29, 1975, Sister Ida Copeland suggested to the group of changing the name with the permission of their Pastor, the group became the J. W. Law singers. Our worship services increased from once a month to twice a month. The J. W. Law Singers served the 1st Sunday and the Senior Choir served the 3rd Sunday. It remained that way until the Lord sent us our present Pastor the Rev. Alvin J. Boone, Sr. on February 13, 1994. Under his guidance and leadership the J. W. Law Singers and the Senior Choir came together as a Combine Choir and at that time we severed under the leadership of Vice President Deaconess Ida Copeland.

Recently we have changed our name to what is know today as the Melton Grove Gospel Choir. We have been given the opportunity to “go outside of comfort zone” and try a variety of different songs which has enhanced us all spiritually and most importantly in lifting up the name of Jesus. We continue to hold steadfast to “God’s Unchanging Hands”.
